Alina Stanciu is a Principal Program Manager on the Azure IoT Smart Places and Energy team at Microsoft, focused on Azure IoT-powered Smart Building Solutions which are essential for digital transformation in real estate and infrastructure. She earned her BS in Computer Science from the University Politechnica of Bucharest, and holds seven US patents at Microsoft. Last year, she released with her team two Azure products:
• Azure Digital Twins, a new-gen IoT platform that enables partners/customers to create a digital representation of real-world things, places, business processes, and people
• RealEstateCore, a smart building ontology for digital twins to accelerate time to market and to enhance interoperability and extensibility of smart building solutions and reusability of code

Over Alina's 23-year professional career, she has contributed to a variety of software engineering disciplines, including teaching programming languages, developing software products for a small company, and designing, developing and managing high scale Azure services at Microsoft. She has developed simple and effective principles for balancing a successful career as a software engineer with her fun-filled family life of outdoor activities, including challenging trail hikes and competitive tennis. She loves to speak with the same passion for her work accomplishments as for her healthy life style. Alina is married to Dan Stanciu and lives in Seattle, WA.
